When Kurt saw the beautiful girl from the club walk into his subway car, he was sure God was giving him a second chance. But she drugged him, kidnapped him, and offered him up as a human sacrifice to Satan.
Just his still-beating heart was supposed to go through the portal to Hell. But when Alain and his friends disrupted the ceremony, Kurt accidentally fell through alive and whole.
Kurt will have to make his way through Hell, Purgatory, and into Heaven and convince God to save a vampire's soul... or he's never getting home.

The New Heroes of Old™ is a dodecology (series of 12 books) by Greg Bulmash that explores the multiverse set up in Hell on $5 A Day. We are issuing a first revised edition of Hell on $5 A Day in January 2026 along with an audiobook version and a podcast that spools out the audiobook episodically.
The second book and third books follow stories that happened to Alain between WW II and present day. Arriving in July 2026, Sodom All Over Again features Alain and Marie's adventures in Los Angeles after WWII. They'll have to rally an army of mythological beings to stop the renegade angel Azazel from starting a war that will destroy the city.
The series has been percolating in Greg's' brain since 1994, when the thought of a "coffee klatch" led to "coffin klatch" which led to the idea of vampire beat poets which led to the idea of a road trip through the afterlife with an unwitting Dante and a vampire Vergil. Influenced by The Divine Comedy, Hell on $5 A Day was serialized in 2009 on Greg's former blog as he rewrote large chunks at the kitchen table during early morning daddy-duty with the new baby (so his wife could get some sleep).
Over 12 years later, after more tinkering and tightening, it was released on Amazon in 2021 and has sold over 2,245 copies (as of this writing), plus enough Kindle Unlimited pages to make another 50. While 2,300 copies isn't a major achievement, it's not bad for a self-published debut novel.

In 2025, Greg decided to put music to some of the lyrics he'd been writing over the decades thanks to improvements in AI music generation. It's not as easy as some would think. It takes a lot to refine your prompt and get an arrangement you like. On occasion he's whistled the tune or sung the lyrics to help the AI. But in the end, nothing went out until he could listen to a song four times in a row and not hate it.
A love song Greg wrote for his wife.
A D&D-inspired boast rap.
